Accessing Tools and Resources for Solar Workforce Development

This resource is an introduction to the workforce development ecosystem, which supports solar businesses and training providers in developing a high-quality workforce.

Updated August 2025

Through regional partnerships with educational institutions, community organizations, and local boards, solar companies can build effective workforce pipelines for enhanced talent attraction, development, and retention.

What is the Workforce Development Ecosystem?

The workforce development ecosystem is a term used to define a set of partners that work together to build talent to meet the needs of business and employees. This ecosystem includes an array of organizations that offer services that contribute to talent development and retention.

How the Workforce Development Ecosystem Can Help You

Together, these workforce development organizations provide coordinated solutions to businesses. The role of the workforce development ecosystem is to be an intermediary in connecting supply (talent) with demand (business and industry), through assistance with career pathways, hiring and recruitment, sector partnerships, and training.

These workforce partners are available to alleviate workforce challenges and ultimately benefit both businesses and job seekers. The more the solar industry leverages workforce development  resources to meet its goals, the better it will be able to expand the solar workforce, increase the number of skilled employees, and strengthen the industry.
