About Green Workforce Connect for Clean Energy Apprenticeships

Green Workforce Connect is bringing together employers, educators, and job seekers to support the growth of a highly trained energy workforce with opportunities for all. One of the opportunities featured on this platform is the Registered Apprenticeship in clean energy industries.

Apprenticeships offer many benefits to both job seekers and employers. In an apprenticeship, employees are trained for a career through a combination of paid on-the-job training under the supervision of a mentor and related technical instruction (in person or online).

For employers, apprenticeships can improve recruitment and retention of workers and help build a well-trained workforce. For individuals in apprenticeships, the benefits include the opportunity to earn a wage while obtaining training for a quality career.

Apprenticeships for clean energy careers are expanding rapidly. They offer great potential for growing the clean energy workforce in a way that ensures high-quality standards and opens pathways for people of all backgrounds.

Despite the myriad benefits of apprenticeships, it can be hard for both job seekers and employers to know where to start. Green Workforce Connect aims to address this challenge by providing a central hub for identifying apprenticeship opportunities and resources.

Individuals interested in participating in apprenticeships can identify programs where they can apply. Employers that want to offer apprenticeships can identify group programs that they may be able to join and find resources to support the development and delivery of apprenticeship training for a variety of occupations. Existing apprenticeship programs can use this platform to share information about their programs with interested candidates and receive inquiries.

Finding Registered Apprenticeship Programs

Green Workforce Connect features a database of a wide range of organizations with clean energy career offerings, including training providers and employers, all searchable by location, the types of programs and services they offer, and other characteristics. This database includes organizations that offer apprenticeships.

To explore apprenticeships in your area, visit the Connect Now page and enter your zip code at the top of the page to see a list of organizations near you.  For an example of how this works, see the screenshot below.
